Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive. If there’s something you want to ask that isn’t answered below, please email hello@hamptontutors.com or call 206.693.4101.
What makes Hampton Tutors different from other tutoring companies?
Hampton Tutors specializes in working with neurodivergent learners, including students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, executive function challenges, and anxiety-related learning barriers.
While many tutoring companies focus strictly on subject matter, we combine academic support with executive function coaching and confidence-building. Our sessions are structured to feel supportive rather than overwhelming, helping students build skills and independence over time.
In addition to working with private families, we have partnered with schools and educational organizations to support students with learning differences.=
Do you only work with students who have a formal diagnosis?
No. A formal diagnosis is not required.
Many families come to us without a diagnosis but recognize that their child learns differently or struggles with organization, focus, or confidence. We focus on how your child learns and what support helps them succeed—not on labels.
What types of learning challenges do you support?
We commonly support students with:
- ADHD
- Autism Spectrum
- Dyslexia and language-based learning differences
- Executive function challenges
- Anxiety impacting academic performance
If you’re unsure whether Hampton is the right fit, we’re happy to discuss your child’s specific needs.
What subjects do you tutor?
We provide support across core academic subjects including math, reading, writing, science, and more. However, what makes our approach unique is that we also integrate executive function strategies—such as planning, organization, and task initiation—into academic support.
Do you offer in-person tutoring?
Yes. We offer in-person tutoring in the Seattle area.
We also provide high-quality online tutoring nationwide for families outside the Seattle area or those who prefer virtual sessions.
How are tutors matched with students?
We take a thoughtful, personalized approach to tutor matching.
We consider:
- Your child’s academic needs
- Their learning style
- Personality and temperament
- Executive function or emotional support needs
We typically recommend one or two tutor options that we believe would be a strong fit.
Do we get to meet the tutor before committing?
Yes.
We offer a free 15-minute introductory session so your child can meet the tutor and see if the connection feels right. We believe fit is critical to success, and there is no obligation after the intro session.
How often do students typically meet with a tutor?
Frequency depends on your child’s needs and goals. Some students meet once per week, while others benefit from multiple sessions per week during more demanding periods.
After understanding your goals, we will recommend an approach and discuss options that feel appropriate and sustainable.
What are your pricing options?
Pricing depends on the level of support and frequency that is right for your child.
We offer both pay-as-you-go options and package options, which are typically the most cost-effective for families. After your introductory session, we will recommend a support plan and walk you through available options so you can decide what feels right.
We are aligned with other private tutoring providers in the Seattle area, with the added benefit of our specialized neurodivergent-focused approach.
Do you offer refunds?
We do not offer refunds on tutoring sessions or packages.
However, if a tutor is not the right fit, we are happy to work with you to switch tutors. Finding the right match is important, and we will collaborate with you to ensure your child is supported appropriately.
What if my child has tried tutoring before and it didn’t help?
Many of our families come to us after traditional tutoring was not effective.
In many cases, the challenge is not the subject matter—it is the need for executive function support, confidence-building, and a tutor who understands neurodivergent learning styles. Our approach is designed specifically for students who have not thrived in conventional tutoring environments.
How quickly will we see progress?
Progress varies by student and depends on goals, consistency, and the nature of the challenge.
While we cannot guarantee specific outcomes, our focus is on building sustainable skills, improved confidence, and measurable academic progress over time. We work closely with families to ensure expectations are aligned and goals are clear.
How do we get started?
The first step is to speak with our team about your child’s needs. From there, we will recommend a tutor and schedule a free 15-minute introductory session so you and your child can determine if it feels like a good fit.
